Hello all, I will be starting a phased return to work next Tuesday, it has taken a while to arrange it but it is happening at last, I,m very scared, I've been off work for 15 months. I will be moving back very slowly so I can hopefully avoid flaring things up again. Just two days next week for two hours only then three days at two hours, increasing up to a full week and then increasing hours per day until after Christmas. I work as a school Cook Supervisor ( chief cook and bottle washer ), doing 25 hours. During the 15 months I have had two shoulder ops, two ops on peripheral arteries and an angioplsty. As we all know, these things cause havock with the RA and Fibromyalgia but things are more settled at the moment. If I had managed to find more suitable employment I wouldn't be returning but I need to at least give it a try. |Please wish me luck.Glenys. x

Dear Glenys

good luck

Gosh you have had lots of operations and also with RA you are amazing
so wishing you all the very best.

Your return of work is very similar to mine Glenys, (we have had a few similar) I also
start next Tues after 8 months off. Like you just Tuesd and Thurs and only working 3 hrs
each day over the lunch period. I did work full time but I cannot see my way getting
up to that though. Like you I am very scared, ekk, the thought makes my heart
palpitate.

Good luck and keep us updated ( I will also)

Good luck to you both, hope all goes well for you, I work three full days and two half days a week, it is really hard going at times. But then it also gets me out of bed in a morning, because if I did not have work the temptation to stay in bed might win.

Will be thinking of you both.

Take Care Gill x

Good luck Glenys.

If you like me I am VERY nervous. My heart races. Insurance is such a complicated business and I
do wonder if I will be able to 'train' my brain again.

I have not had the report back re access to work back and I am starting back
in another office to give me confidence , so I will not have all the 'tools' that they
say they will provide for me initially so that also worrying

Thinking about you on Tuesday.

Today was my third day at work and I'm really feeling it in my joints today, I'm glad I haven't got to go tomorrow so that I can rest up. That's the good thing about a staged return to work. Glenys.

Hello Rose, I'm about the same as you I think, feeling tierd and trying to take it easy at home. This week is my fifth week. Last week I worked every day for two hours, this week I am doing the same except for today I worked three hours and then next week I move up to three hours every day and then four and so on. It's very well worked out, tried and tested I think because I don't think I could do anymore this week so it's good to just have the one tiny increase. I manage at work while I'm there but I'm suffering after, mainly the hands wrists elbows and shoulders, on the third week my hips and knees were particularly bad. I do think though that even if I didn't have any problems I would be feeling rough because I have been off work such a long time that my body needs to regain some srength and stamina although I'm not sure where to get that from, we must take our time as much as possible. I'm not working at my own kitchen, I'm pleased about that because I'm not under pressure to push my self and I'm enjoying the company and working with an amazing new type of oven. I've seen from some of your posts that you are not enjoying your return, it is quite a test isn't it. Thanks for asking , you take care. Glenys.x

Hello Jean, It's great to find you posting, it seems ages, I've missed you. Thank you for your good wishes. I had wanted to get my self a job that is less physical but I haven't managed it so I'm hoping I can cope, I'm going to take lessons in delegating, it will probably be the only way to go. I hope to manage three more years and then I can retire. x
